Anonymous Lakers players have spoken out about the special treatment that Bronny James has received
After being selected by the Lakers with the 55th overall pick, Bronny James has become one of the most talked about tales of the summer. One player with the Los Angeles Lakers, however, has decided to speak out against what is allegedly preferential treatment after finishing his very first Summer League tenure.
According to Steve Brenner and Damian Burchardt of the United States Sun, “The attention he attracted was’very frustrating’ for the players to see, and his alleged star treatment caused friction among the team, which went 0-5 to start the tournament,” this was written by an insider for the Los Angeles Lakers. An unnamed Lakers player was quoted as saying, “That kind of tension did not help the group of players to build chemistry.” “And you could feel that there was no unity [between] this group of guys because Bronny was the main guy, and the others didn’t feel that it was right, that he deserved that,” the speaker said.
Brenner and Burchardt reported that throughout the process, Bronny’s representatives prevented the guard from being available for media interviews on multiple occasions. The source characterized this behavior as “not nice” toward his teammates and other players and members of the franchise. “Because of the attention and treatment that Bronny received, a significant number of the other young players who are vying for a spot on the roster for the upcoming season were unable to showcase their best qualities and perform to the best of their abilities.”
As the son of basketball royalty, it should not have come as a surprise that Bronny entered the game with a tremendous amount of attention focused on him. Due to the fact that they are the first father-son team to ever be on an NBA roster, they are on the verge of making history together, and many people are interested in following their drama.In the process, however, Bronny has cast a shadow over his other teammates, the majority of whom have just as much of a claim to a roster position as he has. In spite of the fact that he was selected in the second round, James is receiving the attention and admiration of a superstar. This was making it difficult for his teammates on the Lakers to maintain their concentration on their own developing skills.
Even Dalton Knecht, who was selected by the Lakers in the first round and came from Northeastern Junior College, had a difficult time making a name for himself in Summer League, while Bronny continued to be the center of attention.
Although Bronny is not to blame for the situation, the fact that he is connected to LeBron James has resulted in some unintended repercussions, and not everyone is pleased with the impact that this link has made.
When you consider his popularity in conjunction with his somewhat unimpressive performance on the court, it becomes even more apparent why some players could be sad for him. In college, James had a scoring average of 4.8 points per game, and he began the Summer League with a shooting percentage of 0-15 from beyond the arc.
There are questions over whether or not Bronny should have even been selected in the draft, let alone granted a contract that is guaranteed for four years and worth $7.9 million.
It is obviously clear that Bronny receives an additional edge in the league due to the fact that he is LeBron James’ son. This occurs despite the fact that the Lakers continue to say that Bronny has earned his spot in the league. It doesn’t matter if you like him or despise him; Bronny is not your usual second-round pick, and he has been afforded a more straightforward path to the NBA than the majority of players.
It is necessary for Bronny to win the respect of his contemporaries and demonstrate to the world that he is an NBA player on his own merits, rather than merely because his father said so, in order for him to achieve success at the National Basketball Association level and leave behind his own legacy of achievement. It will be necessary for James to put in twice as much effort as everyone else in order to demonstrate that his achievement is the result of his own hard work in order for him to disprove the falsehoods.
