Taylor Swift‘s escape from New Orleans following the humiliation of the Super Bowl has sent Swifties into a spiral. 

The pop star, who had to suffer through an onslaught of booing during the 40-22 demolition of her boyfriend Travis Kelce and the Kansas City Chiefs Sunday, made a swift exit from the Big Easy Monday evening without her NFL beau in tow. 

The ‘Anti-Hero’ hitmaker pulled up to her parked private jet at Louis Armstrong New Orleans International Airport on the Monday after the Big Game and was protected by a legion of people holding umbrellas as she boarded the plane so she couldn’t be spotted. 

However, her fanbase – as eagle-eyed as ever – somehow still managed to zone in on the one piece of her outfit that was visible: A pair of ruby red loafers.

The footwear naturally sparked conspiracy theories among Swifties, and while most agreed that the shoes were a nod to the Ruby Red Slippers in the Wizard of Oz and therefore could be a potential Easter Egg for her music, others went a bit more rogue. 

One TikTok even triggered multiple suggestions that the misery of Super Bowl defeat spelled the end for the NFL’s power couple.

‘So the fact that after the Super Bowl the last game of the season, we see Taylor leaving in her Ruby Red Slippers… the show is over. We’re waking up from the dream. It’s very much like the Wizard of Oz when Dorothy wakes up, realises it’s all a dream, clacks her heels and goes back home. 

‘I do feel like Taylor Swift ghosted after the Super Bowl and she’s going to lie low, we won’t see her for a couple of weeks. When she picks up and continue with the story, I’m very excited to see where it goes.’ 

While it could be interpreted that Swift, who often uses her outfit choices to drop Easter Eggs for her upcoming masterpieces, could be signalling the end of her most recent era in anticipation of the next, other social media users in the comments went wild claiming she and Kelce had broken up.

Some claimed the ‘Ruby Red Slippers’ could be a reference to Dorothy’s iconic line, ‘We’re not in Kansas anymore,’ from the cult film with Kansas being substituted for Kansas City in Swift’s case.

Others suggested that it was a reflection of Dorothy’s return from Oz with there being, ‘no place like home,’ aka the glamor of New York and Los Angeles that the songstress is accustomed to. 

‘She woke up from her dream of love and is going home,’ one wrote in the comments.

However, others argued that Swift’s flair for fashion actually represented the opposite: That she views Kelce and Kansas as home now. 

‘I mean, “there’s no place like home” and Dorothy’s home is in Kansas, which is also where Travis live. Is she not saying home is where Travis is?’ another questioned. 

Meanwhile, some dismissed any notions of Swift and Kelce’s love story, claiming it was sign that a new project could be in the works. 

The 14-time Grammy Award winner is renowned for her meticulous planning as she leaves hints and clues for her fans, and Swift has regularly made references to the Wizard of Oz. 

Recently, Swift orchestrated her Instagram posts in a way that displayed a column of yellow down her grid – a move fans have since branded the Yellow Brick Road theory. 

The ‘Bejewelled’ singer also made reference to the 1939 Judy Garland film when she trotted down a Yellow Brick Road in a gingham dress in her music video for ‘Karma.’ 

Swift had a bit of a tough evening at Super Bowl LIX – getting booed heartily by the fans in attendance, facing the wrath of President Trump on social media, and then watching Kelce and the Kansas City Chiefs suffer a humiliating defeat to the Philadelphia Eagles.

Swift’s plane sat on the runway for 45 minutes before taxiing and taking off from the Big Easy bound for Nashville.

Before boarding, a man appeared to carry on some snacks and a tub of cat litter – suggesting that the pop icon may have brought her cats along with her. 

She had brought friends – including rapper Ice Spice – along with her in the hopes of watching Kelce and the Chiefs clinch a third-straight Super Bowl title.

Instead, it was her hometown Eagles that came away with a dominant 40-22 win that was much more lopsided than the score suggests.
