Lil Pump took aim at Selena Gomez on Monday, mocking the actress after her tearful reaction to the recent wave of migrant deportation

The Welcome to the Party rapper, 23, joined a chorus of critics after Gomez, 32, posted an emotional Instagram video last week—since deleted—in which she broke down over the deportation of Mexican migrants and President Donald Trump’s daily arrest quotas.

While some expressed sympathy, others slammed her display as ‘shallow’ and ‘narcissistic.’

In response, Lil Pump quickly fired back on Instagram, taunting the former Disney Channel star and accusing her of ‘crying for no reason.’

Pump didn’t stop there—he also shared AI-generated images of Selena in tears, grinning broadly in the background.

The hip hop star, a long-time supporter of Trump, capped off his response with a bold statement: ‘I’m happy bc Trumps back.’

Although Pump hails from Colombian immigrant parents, he seemed far less moved by the recent ICE arrests than Selena, a third-generation Mexican-American.

Despite this, the rapper has been a fixture in the MAGA community for years, frequently sharing photos on social media of himself with Trump and proudly sporting the iconic red MAGA hat.

In her recording, which has since been deleted, Selena admitted she felt powerless over the situation, telling her 422 million followers: ‘I’m so sorry, I wish I could do something, but I can’t. I don’t know what to do. I’ll try everything.’

The video did not sit well with social media users though, who were quick to slam her for not using her reported net worth of $1.3 billion to take action herself.

Leading the charge was British journalist and broadcaster Piers Morgan, who said: ‘Posting yourself weeping over illegal immigrant criminals being deported is a new level of absurd celebrity narcissism.’

Echoing a similar sentiment, another posted: ‘What a moron. What purposes does this serve? Is this a PR stunt???? Who cares what Selena Gomez thinks. Keep it to yourself. Disgraceful.’

A third added: ‘Selena Gomez, if you truly want to help use your millions to make their lives better!’

‘One of the people that has enough power and money to actually help people is posting a video of themselves crying on an Instagram story, like can you please give your money away,’ a fourth continued.

In her recording, the 32-year-old actress sobbed as she reacted to President Trump’s plan to deport millions of immigrants, which has ignited fears of family separations

A fifth continued: ‘Girl, you have the resources to do a lot. You could fund legal services, translation services, permanently fund mutual aid programs, direct action that disrupts raids, immigration assistance programs that facilitate these folks on their way in etc.’

‘When I felt powerless, I cried a lot in frustration, but behind closed doors… Not for the world to see,’ said a sixth. ‘Celebs with their wealth and influence, have the power to fix things, yet they choose to put on a show instead of taking real action. It’s just shallow.’

Others accused Selena of ‘stage outraged’ and encouraged her to take a social media break.

In her video, Selena wept about ‘my people getting attacked’.

She captioned the post: ‘I’m sorry [Mexican flag emoji].’

After quickly taking down her post, she shared a message that read: ‘Apparently it’s not ok to show empathy for people.’

Selena has been slated by social media users for her ‘staged outrage’

The Only Murders in the Building star previously produced a 2019 Netflix documentary, titled Living Undocumented, chronicling the lives of undocumented families in the United States.

At the time, the former Disney Channel star, who was born in Texas, opened up about her family’s own immigration story, which began in the 1970s when her aunt crossed the border from Mexico to America hidden in the back of a truck.

Her paternal grandparents, Ricardo and Mary followed their daughter and, once in the US, they welcomed Selena’s father, who is also called Ricardo.

Her mother, Mandy Teefey, is also a US citizen.

In a personal essay for Time magazine, Selena shared: ‘Undocumented immigration is an issue I think about every day, and I never forget how blessed I am to have been born in this country thanks to my family and the grace of circumstance.’

She added: ‘But when I read the news headlines or see debates about immigration rage on social media, I feel afraid for those in similar situations. I feel afraid for my country.’

The Golden Globe nominee noted as a Mexican American woman that she feels ‘a responsibility to use’ her platform ‘to be a voice for people who are too afraid to speak.’

‘When I signed on to executive-produce a show about undocumented immigrants, I couldn’t help but anticipate the criticisms I might face. But the truth is, the worst criticism I can imagine is still nothing compared to what undocumented immigrants face every day,’ she explained.

The Rare Beauty reminded her followers that ‘fear shouldn’t stop us from getting involved and educating ourselves on an issue that affects millions of people in our country.’

Selena has been vocal about concerns over how immigrants are obtained in the United States and previously called out ‘kids in cages’ that were ‘sleeping on concrete floors with aluminum blankets.’
