Hollywood is in mourning after George Clooney – a global cinema icon – was confirmed by his family to have passed away in his sleep, just weeks after announcing his retirement due to serious health problems.
BBC recently reported the first reaction of Brad Pitt, Clooney’s close friend and longtime collaborator.
“I was stunned when I heard this news. Just a moment ago, he was still laughing and talking, discussing new movie ideas with me. I can’t believe it…” – Brad shared with a choked voice.
George Clooney and Brad Pitt are a close duo associated with the legendary Ocean’s Eleven, Ocean’s Twelve and Ocean’s Thirteen series. They were not only good co-stars on screen, but also close brothers in real life.
Brad once called George “the funniest man I’ve ever known, and also the most sincere man in Hollywood.”
They often vacation together, have spoken out about humanitarian issues, and even planned to co-produce a film about friendship in old age.
In a short interview with the BBC, Brad Pitt affirmed that George Clooney lived a full life:
“He once said to me: ‘When I die, I don’t want anyone to feel sorry for me. I want people to raise their glasses, laugh loudly and tell silly stories about me.’ But honestly, I can’t laugh right now.”
“George was more than just a movie legend – he was the soul of every room he walked into.”
A number of big names have expressed their deep condolences, including Brad Pitt:
Julia Roberts: “Losing George is like losing a part of my childhood.”
Sandra Bullock: “A man who knew how to make people feel special. It’s hard to imagine the movie world without him.”
Matt Damon: “We grew up together, reached the top together. I will miss him every day.”
