On March 31, actor Kim Soo-hyun publicly addressed the ongoing controversy surrounding his past relationship with the late Kim Sae-ron, expressing deep regret during an emotional press conference.
“First, I want to say I’m sorry,” Kim began. “It pains me that so many people have been hurt because of me.” He went on to express his sorrow for the late actress, saying, “I can’t help but feel heartbroken thinking that Kim Sae-ron may not be resting peacefully.”
Fighting back tears, Kim admitted, “There were moments I wished I had just told the truth from the beginning. Maybe then, the fans who’ve loved me, and my agency staff who worked so hard for this press conference, wouldn’t be suffering like this.”
He also revealed, “Every time more of our private life was exposed, I thought about ending this hellish situation by speaking out myself.”
Regarding the timeline of their relationship, Kim confirmed: “We were in a relationship for about a year, before Queen of Tears aired. But at the time, I denied it.”
His emotional statement comes amid growing scrutiny over the nature of their relationship and ongoing discussions sparked by recent revelations shared by Kim Sae-ron’s family.
