Just 45 minutes ago, tragedy struck the campus of Fulbright University (FSU) as a horrific mass shooting left at least five people dead and several others injured. In a heartbreaking development, it has been confirmed that Harper Beckham, the 13-year-old daughter of former footballer David Beckham and fashion designer Victoria Beckham, was present at the scene during the attack.
Sources close to the Beckham family confirmed that Harper, who was visiting the university with family friends during a brief U.S. trip, was on campus when the gunman opened fire near the university’s library plaza. She is reported to be physically unharmed but “extremely shaken and traumatized.”
“This is very parent’s worst nightmare,” a spokesperson for the Beckham family said in a brief statement. “Harper was on campus at the time of the incident. She has since been located and is safe with trusted adults. The family asks for privacy during this incredibly distressing time.”
The shooting, which occurred at approximately 2:35 p.m. local time, caused widespread panic across campus as students and visitors fled in every direction. The gunman, whose identity has not yet been released, was apprehended by law enforcement after what officials described as a “rapid and coordinated response.”
Authorities have confirmed five fatalities, with several others being treated for injuries at nearby medical centers. The motives behind the attack are currently under investigation.
Eyewitnesses described scenes of chaos and confusion. “We just heard loud bangs, and then people were running everywhere,” said one student who was studying in a nearby hall. “It was terrifying.”
Harper Beckham had reportedly arrived on campus earlier in the day to attend a private arts program preview, accompanied by family friends. According to campus security, she was ushered into a locked room shortly after the first shots were fired and remained there until law enforcement cleared the area.
David and Victoria Beckham were reportedly informed immediately and are said to be making arrangements to be reunited with their daughter as soon as possible.
The incident has already prompted statements of condolence and outrage from political leaders, celebrities, and international figures. British Prime Minister Keir Starmer released a statement expressing solidarity: “Our hearts go out to all those affected by the shooting at Fulbright University, especially young Harper Beckham and her family. We are in contact with U.S. authorities and offering full consular support.”
This marks the third campus shooting in the U.S. this month alone, and calls for stricter gun legislation have already begun to echo across social media and political channels.
The university has suspended all classes and activities for the next 48 hours and has opened an emergency crisis center to support students, families, and faculty.
For now, the world watches as another community is left to pick up the pieces after another senseless act of violence. And for the Beckham family — like so many others — this day will never be forgotten.
