The actor and WWE star said this is one reason he ‘appreciates’ the pop star.
Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson shared quite the story about getting tickets to Taylor Swift‘s incredibly popular Eras Tour.
While promoting Moana 2 and ahead of the last leg of concerts that the 34-year-old pop star has scheduled, the actor revealed that he had to do something very out of character to score seats at the show–and the tickets weren’t even for him!
Swift’s current tour, which kicked off in March 2023 and is set to conclude early next month in Vancouver, was notably one of the most difficult concert series to get tickets to, with some U.S. fans traveling overseas just for the chance to see her, and others using their contacts to “pull strings,” as The Rock put it while speaking with Entertainment Tonight.
“It’s never happened in my career. Usually, I don’t have to pull strings. Usually, I’ll just … I just make it happen,” he shared in a clip that first aired Sunday, Nov. 24. But that wasn’t the case when his “good friend” reached out to him, asking him for help getting tickets to a recent show.
“I’m never good at asking for that kind of stuff. I’m good at giving it. Hate asking for stuff. I don’t do it,” he admitted. “But in this case, made a little call, Taylor made it happen. [We got] tickets … [my friend was] happy.””I got the picture of the happy ladies who were there,” Johnson, 52, added, before gushing over the pop star, “I appreciate that about Taylor.”
The WWE personality later told the outlet that Swift and Beyoncé‘s music has been a way for him to bond with all three of his daughters: Simone, 23, whom he welcomed with ex-wife Dany Garcia, and Jasmine, 8, and Tiana, 6, both of whom he shares with his wife, Lauren Hashian.
“We love Taylor. We love Beyoncé. Tia, our littlest one, we call her Teyoncé,” he joked, explaining that she “owns it” and will “come strutting over.”
Along with his musical taste, Johnson appears to have passed down his professional interests as well, with his eldest also pursuing a career in wrestling and his two younger daughters making voice cameos in the upcoming animated Disney film where he reprises his role as demigod Maui.
The Moana sequel, which is different from the live-action version that’s also in the works, is due out in theaters on Wednesday, Nov. 27.
