After the defeat in the Europa League final, coach Ruben Amorim announced that he would leave Man United if the board wanted him to.

On the morning of May 22, Man United lost 0-1 to Tottenham in the final of the 2024-2025 Europa League. This defeat caused Man United to go through a trophyless season and miss out on a ticket to the Champions League next season.

At the same time, according to the British press, this is the worst season for the “Red Devils” in 51 years. On the contrary, Tottenham won the first title since 2008. They also defeated Man United 4 times this season.

Man United are currently at risk of finishing the Premier League this season in 17th place, just above the relegation zone.

The Old Trafford club appointed Amorim as manager last November, but the team won just six of their 26 Premier League games. Their Europa League campaign also ended empty-handed.

In the post-match press conference, the Portuguese coach declared that he would leave without compensation if the board wanted him to.

“If the board and the fans feel I am not the right person, I will leave the next day without any talk of compensation,”  said coach Amorim .

However, he also affirmed: “But I will not resign voluntarily. I am really confident in my work and as you can see.

The defeat to Tottenham was the 16th time this season that Man United have failed to score. The team currently has a goal difference of -12 in the Premier League.

Unable to win the Europa League, the “Red Devils” really had a bad season and they still have a lot of work to do next season if they want to regain the trust of fans.
