On the evening of March 10, the whole of Asia was “shaken” by the unexpected drama that hit the highest-paid actor in Korea – Kim Soo Hyun . The noise broke out from the YouTube channel Garo Sero Institute (a group of former reporters and lawyers, specializing in reporting on stars, “the secret history” of the Korean entertainment industry) revealing that Kim Sae Ron – Kim Soo Hyun had been dating for 6 years. This relationship started in 2015, when Kim Sae Ron was only 15 years old. 

Kim Soo Hyun was “exposed” for dating Kim Sae Ron since the late actress was only 15 years old.

Kim Soo Hyun’s side immediately denied the accusations and announced a lawsuit against Garo Sero Institute. In the middle of the night, this YouTube channel was undeterred, challenging Kim Soo Hyun’s threat of lawsuit through a long post. Garo Sero Institute shockingly revealed: Kim Soo Hyun will be sued for having sex with a minor tomorrow. The developments of Kim Soo Hyun’s case escalated, with new details constantly being updated, and old statements being dug up over the past ten hours. Notably, Kim Soo Hyun’s drama also caused a group to be directly “named” – BTS.

BTS mentioned in Kim Soo Hyun’s “scandal” post

Specifically, in the post challenging Kim Soo Hyun, Garo Sero Institute suddenly mentioned the global music group: “Legal response? Previously, BTS – the world star – also said that they would have a ‘legal response’ to Garo Sero. And what was the result? The whole incident ended with enlistment.” This immediately attracted the attention of the Kpop fan community, especially making ARMY extremely confused. BTS fans were outraged because their idol “got shot while lying down”, being dragged into the most shocking drama while enlisting in the army.

People are confused because BTS was “mentioned”

On forums, a series of question marks were raised. People were confused about the real relationship between Kim Soo Hyun, the above YouTube channel and BTS. Not to mention, Garo Sero directly mentioned BTS’s military enlistment. Netizens began to “half-believe, half-doubt”, digging up the past scandals between Garo Sero and BTS. 

Garo Sero released information that two BTS members were regulars at the bar related to G-Dragon and the late actress Lee Sun Gyun in 2023, and was sued by HYBE.

After all, the “secret history” of Garo Sero – BTS that made people curious was completely unrelated to Kim Soo Hyun or the military service of the 7 members of the global music group. Back in October 2023, Garo Sero released news that two BTS members were regulars at the bar related to G-Dragon and the late actor Lee Sun Gyun being accused of drug use. Management company Big Hit quickly denied it, announcing that they would take legal action to protect the artist’s reputation. This is the only case in which Garo Sero has been sued by BTS’s management company. 

BTS’s military enlistment has nothing to do with Garo Sero

BTS fans believe that Garo Sero’s act of dragging BTS’s name into the middle of the Kim Soo Hyun scandal post is just a baseless way to “attract views”. Not to mention, HYBE’s lawsuit against this YouTube channel is also due to Garo Sero spreading fabricated information, implicating the global music group. BTS will enlist in December 2023 according to the pre-planned schedule, unrelated to the Garo Sero YouTube channel. 

Not to mention, the three members Jin, J-Hope and Suga enlisted in the military from 2022 to September 2023, before Garo Sero was sued by HYBE for spreading false and defamatory information. ARMY condemned this YouTube channel’s actions of “cheating” and trying to smear BTS. In the past, the three people running Garo Sero Institute were sued many times, even prosecuted for digging up and fabricating artists’ private lives. 

BTS also has no connection in Kim Soo Hyun’s drama

Kim Soo Hyun’s case is still unresolved. But to be clear, BTS has no connection to this drama.
