The recent approval of a new redistricting map by the Texas House has sparked intense debate, particularly over its impact on Representative Jasmine Crockett’s congressional seat. Federal rules don’t require her to live in her district, but Crockett has expressed a desire to consult her constituents and colleagues before deciding. Meanwhile, other Democratic representatives, like Lloyd Doggett and Julie Johnson, face similar dilemmas as their districts undergo significant changes.

Critics of Crockett, including some Republican voices, argue her polarizing style may cost her support regardless of redistricting.
