July 25, 2025 – Astronomer, a US technology company specializing in DataOps and Artificial Intelligence, is facing internal turmoil after two of its senior executives – CEO Andy Byron and Head of Human Resources Kristin Cabot – were caught on camera having an affair at a Coldplay concert.
On July 16, 2025, at Gillette Stadium in Massachusetts, a “kiss‑cam” video from a Coldplay performance went viral. In it, CEO Andy Byron and Kristin Cabot were filmed hugging in front of a large screen and reacting in shock when they realized they were being shown.
The image and video attracted a lot of attention when Chris Martin – Coldplay’s lead singer commented: “Either they are having an affair, or they are just very shy.”
According to NDTV, Astronomer confirmed to the BBC that “Kristin Cabot has officially resigned” from her position as the company’s Chief People Officer. The announcement comes just days after Andy Byron stepped down as CEO following a suspension and internal investigation.
Andy Byron, who has been CEO since July 2023 and helped Astronomer raise a $93 million Series D round that valued the company at about $1.3 billion, officially stepped down on July 19, 2025. Co-founder and Chief Product Officer Pete DeJoy was then named interim CEO. DeJoy said the company was “moving forward” and was considering using the unexpected spotlight to strengthen its brand image and commitment to ethical leadership.
Kristin Cabot is said to own a $2.2 million home in New Hampshire with her husband, Andrew Cabot, CEO of Privateer Rum. Before the scandal, she played an important role in adhering to the company’s internal rules, which prohibit relationships between leaders and employees. After resigning, Kristin kept quiet and made very few public appearances. The media noted that she was photographed outside her home without a wedding ring, raising questions about her marital relationship and the psychological pressure after the scandal. Many online communities and Astronomer employees on Reddit described the incident as “painful entertainment” and a “misguided response that led to an unexpected outcome.”
