HEARTBREAKING: After two miscarriages, Atomic Kitten singer Liz McClarnon, 44, is pregnant and expecting her first child, but sadly … see more

“The whole process made me truly appreciate that having a baby is a miracle,” she said

Liz McClarnon is pregnant and expecting her first baby after experiencing two miscarriages last year.

The English singer, 44, announced that she and husband Peter Cho have a baby on the way in a May 13 Instagram post.

Now, she is opening up about her emotional pregnancy journey in an interview with The Mirror, published on Sunday, June 1.

McClarnon, known for her work in the band Atomic Kitten, told the U.K. outlet that she and Cho, whom she met in 2021 and married in 2023, started in vitro fertilization (IVF) early in their relationship. They had three failed embryo transfers in 2022, and then experienced two miscarriages in 2024.

“I said I was ‘done’ after the last one, and Peter was absolutely on board with that. He didn’t say anything other than, ‘This is your body and I’ll support whatever you decide you want,’ which was a huge thing for me,” McClarnon said. “I felt so bad emotionally, it was really tough.”

But then, she said, spending the Christmas holiday with family “helped me heal.”

Elsewhere in the interview, McClarnon shared how the process has changed her perspective.

“The whole process made me truly appreciate that having a baby is a miracle,” she said. “There are so, so many things that need to happen correctly for someone to get pregnant, and for that to result in a healthy baby.”When the “Woman in Love” singer announced her pregnancy, she wrote on a video, “I’ve been keeping a secret from you… And I’ve mostly kept myself off social media because sometimes it was hard to smile… But after years of sometimes quite painful IVF and quite dark times…I’m pregnant.”

The video showed McClarnon sitting on a bench outside with her back to the camera. Toward the end, she stood up, revealing her baby bump, which she embraced while wearing a gray ensemble and a white cardigan.

“I started to record a video of me just telling you but I got too emotional so I thought I’d just hide behind this little announcement instead,” McClarnon captioned the post. “I just can’t believe we’re here. ❤️ So many have been through exactly what I went through and worse. ❤️ I want to share what I can and add my voice and ears to those who already help others understand or deal with all that comes with ivf and loss after so much hope.””I’ve been a part of some beautifully supportive communities,” she added. “I’m so grateful.”

Her announcement garnered several supportive comments from her colleagues and fans. Singer Natasha Hamilton wrote, “Literally couldn’t be any happier for you both! After all you’ve been through, this little miracle is everything💫✨😭.”

Bandmate Jenny Frost commented, “The best news ever …. You have been through it girl but never lost faith in what you knew was meant to be 🤍. Beyond happy for you both 🤍.”

McClarnon told The Mirror that she was surprised by the response her post received.

“I really didn’t expect people to be interested,” she said. “I just thought I should probably put it out there before someone else mentioned it. I’m still at that ‘is it a baby bump or is it just a big tummy?’ stage, I think, but it was only a matter of time.”
