Chrissy Teigen and John Legend have opened up about a significant change in their family life after their six-year-old son, Miles, was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes. The couple revealed the news after fans spotted a glucose monitor on Miles’ arm in a photo from the Paris Olympics.
Teigen, known for her candidness on social media, shared her gratitude for the support they’ve received from the diabetes community. “I was, and am, so blown away by the kindness of this community,” she wrote. The diagnosis came after Miles was hospitalized with shigella, a bacterial infection that affects the intestines. During his treatment, doctors noticed unusual blood test results, leading to the discovery of his condition.
Now in what’s known as the “honeymoon phase” of type 1 diabetes, Miles recently received his first insulin injection—a milestone that marks the beginning of a new chapter for the family. Teigen acknowledged the challenges ahead but expressed their commitment to learning and adapting to this new reality together.
