Robert Downey Jr might be Iron Man, but he was overshadowed by his stunning wife Susan on the Avengers: Age Of Ultron red carpet.

The film producer – who gave birth to a baby girl last November – looked elegant in a strapless gown as she joined her action star husband at the world premiere of the Marvel film.

With his arms wrapped around Susan, Robert looked like he couldn’t have been prouder to have her there in Los Angeles to promote his latest outing as Tony Stark.

Susan’s dress featured a scarf-like print and check, and she wore her hair in a simple straight side-parting.

The couple grinned from ear-to-ear as they walked the red carpet, with Robert looking dapper in a grey suit, shirt and blue tie and his wife displaying a manicure to match his outfit.

He left Susan momentarily to sign autographs but was soon back with his arms around his wife of nearly ten years.

The couple met on the set of 2003’s Gothika, when she was an Executive Vice President of Production at Joel Silver’s film company, Silver Pictures.

At first, Susan turned down Robert’s romantic advances but they soon started quietly dating and he proposed the night before her 30th birthday.

The couple were married on August 27, 2005, in a Jewish ceremony at Amagansett, New York, and seven years later they welcomed their first child together Exton.

Together they have two children – including five-month old Avril – but Robert also has a son, Indio, from his first marriage to Deborah Falconer.

Robert once said of his wife: ‘The old saying is true – behind every good man there’s an incredible woman. I owe a huge amount, if not all, of my success to Susan. We make a great team, and all that luck I spoke about, that’s Susan.’

They set up their own production company, Team Downey, under the Warner Bros. umbrella and the first film they produced together was The Judge in which Robert also starred opposite Robert Duvall.

Susan has also worked as a producer on the Iron Man films alongside her husband, but for the Avengers: Age Of Ultron world premiere she was just playing the supportive wife.
