Michelle Trachtenberg was linked to her boyfriend, Jay Cohen, in 2020, five years before her death on Feb. 26

Michelle Trachtenberg was in a long-term relationship before her death.

The Gossip Girl alum was first linked to talent agent Jay Cohen in 2020. Cohen is a partner and head of film finance and distribution at the Gersh Agency, which Trachtenberg signed with in 2014, per The Hollywood Reporter.

After dating for at least five years, Trachtenberg died on Feb. 26 at 39 years old. Police confirmed to PEOPLE that she was found dead in her Midtown apartment early in the morning, and her death was not being investigated as suspicious.

A week earlier, she wished Cohen a happy Valentine’s Day, writing on Instagram, “Happy Valentine’s Day to the man who sits still long enough for me to paint his face. ,” alongside a photo of the two dressed as Jeckyl and Hyde for Halloween.

Cohen is a partner at the Gersh Agency, which is one of Hollywood’s oldest talent agencies. Previously, he worked on Wall Street, per his bio.

His pivot to Hollywood came after he moved to Los Angeles and started working in film, collaborating with actors like Dustin Hoffman, Kate Hudson and Goldie Hawn.

“I started out as an investment banker in New York, made my way to L.A., financed some movies for people by accident so I learned how to make movies because I invested in a movie and turns out the producers didn’t understand they weren’t supposed to the the money home,” he shared during a talk at the Toronto International Film Festival in 2015. “So I took the movie over, learned all about film production, started a production company with Dustin Hoffman, made a lot of movies.”Cohen is a producer

In addition to working as an agent and finance expert, Cohen has worked in the creative side of the Hollywood industry, producing a number of projects.

He is a father

Cohen is the father of two daughters: Lili and Rachel.

The proud father has shared a number of sweet moments with his daughters on Instagram, including when Lili got married in November 2023. “My youngest Lili and Lyndsay now married . I gained a new beautiful sweet loving daughter in my family ,” he captioned the post.

Earlier that year, Cohen enjoyed a vacation with his two girls, sharing a photo from the trip on Instagram.

“First vacation with my daughters in a while ! Love you both so much ,” he wrote.

They were first linked in 2020

Cohen and Trachtenberg were first linked in 2020, though it is likely they met earlier as the actress joined Gersh in 2014.

Trachtenberg made her relationship Instagram official in February 2023, posting a photo of her and Cohen smiling in a selfie for Valentine’s Day.

A year later, she gave fans another quick glimpse into her relationship, posting a birthday tribute to Cohen in March 2024.

“Happy Birthday to the man who puts up with me @jaymcohen  ,” she wrote in the caption.

They were private about their relationship

While Trachtenberg waited another two years before sharing their relationship on Instagram, Cohen debuted his girlfriend on his social media on Independence Day in 2021.

“#fireworks are every day with this one !! ,” he wrote in the caption.

Since then, he’s posted a few glimpses into their lives together, but the two have never spoken publicly about their relationship nor attended public events together.
